Last weekend, as part of our trek to Yorkshire, Mrs T and I (with Josh) called in on one of the municipal cemeteries in Sheffield, where Mrs T's grandparents were buried. It was a massive place with thousands of graves and memorials, many in poor repair. We eventually found the right one, and were gratified to discover that it was in fairly good order, although we'll go back another time and give it a proper seeing-to.

However, in our search, I saw one gravestone that had fallen flat on its face. Couldn't tell whose it was, but it was one of hundreds in a similar state. Even so, for no reason I could judge, I risked a hernia by heaving it up, and turning it over. To our amazement, it was Mrs T's great grandparents, and we hadn't even known they were in the same cemetery.

Now, how bizarre is that?

That is odd Mr T .... but some things are just meant to be .....did you learn anything new about them from it ? I think these things happen sometimes in life to show us some thing ...we just have to pick up on what it is ......

Right I will take my mistic meg hat off and go back into the corner ... Undecided

A wonderful coincidence, Thumper - it was obviously meant to be!

As regards gravestones laying flat, apparently the dreaded "Elf & Safety" brigade are at work here. They have a device they press against a gravestone, and if it cannot withstand the pressure, they lay the stone flat! Who decrees what is a "safe" pressure, I wonder?

It does make me wonder how many people have been recorded as being injured in cemeteries by falling gravestones to prompt such action?
